- 📝 Here’s what you need to know about Apple’s next iPhone.
The iPhone 17 will be released this year, and Apple will complement it with a new Air model and possibly the first “ultra-thin” iPhone ever.
There are plenty of reasons to be excited about this year’s iPhone release cycle, but the phone that kicks off this series—the regular iPhone 17—seems pretty boring by comparison. Sure, the phone is expected to get plenty of improvements, but it won’t have a completely new design or name. Instead, its specs will be bumped up compared to the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, and that’s okay. Let’s see all these unexpected features of the iPhone 17 Air and iPhone 17 Pro revealed.
For everyday users, the iPhone 17 will receive several valuable upgrades that will improve the everyday iPhone experience. According to the rumors and leaks we’ve scoured the internet, we’ve rounded up what you need to know.
iPhone 17 Release Date and Price
📅 September Confirmed. We’re almost certain that Apple will announce and launch the iPhone 17 in September. The company releases almost all of its iPhones in September, and the last few years (except for 2020) have been no exception. We say “almost certain” because Apple hasn’t confirmed a release date or launch event for the phone, and we don’t expect to hear anything like that until the end of August, when the company may send out invitations to an iPhone 17 press event.
💰 iPhone 16 Price. We haven’t heard much about the iPhone 17’s price, but Apple is expected to keep the same starting price of $799 for the iPhone 16 series. The company has maintained this pricing for the past few years, and unless inflation or tariffs negatively impact the price, it’s safe to assume the iPhone 17 will be priced at a similar rate.
iPhone 17 Design Rumors

📐 Anyone want the iPhone 16S? The iPhone 17 is expected to see the fewest design changes this year compared to the rest of the series. In fact, the phone is expected to look almost identical to the iPhone 16, which will be released in 2024, with the same power button, camera controls, USB-C port, stereo speakers, camera settings, and Dynamic Island interface. From the outside, it’s rumored to be called the iPhone 16S.
🤏 A little bigger. The only thing that could change is the screen size. Rumors suggest that Apple will increase the screen size from 6.1 inches to 6.3 inches, matching the screen size of the iPhone 16 Pro, and allocate 6.1 inches to the iPhone 16e. I’ve seen many conflicting reports on this topic, so please take them with a grain of salt.
iPhone 17 Camera Rumors

📸 Two are better than one. Unlike the iPhone 17 Air, Apple is expected to include two cameras on the iPhone 17. Currently, we’re expecting a 48MP main camera and a 12MP wide-angle camera, though this could change over time as we learn more about the iPhone 17’s camera system.
🤳 A big boost for selfies. On all iPhone 17 models, Apple is expected to replace the old 12MP selfie camera with a new 24MP sensor. This will help add extra lighting and detail to every selfie you take, which is especially useful at night.
iPhone 17 Specs Rumors

📱 Large ProMotion display. One of the most popular rumors surrounding the iPhone 17 concerns the display. It has been reported that the entire iPhone 17 series will feature ProMotion displays, which will offer 120Hz refresh rates. This will be the first time this technology has made its way to a non-Pro iPhone since its debut on the iPhone 13 Pro in 2021. It’s unclear whether the refresh rate will slow down to 1Hz to enable the always-on display, but it appears that 60Hz displays are finally out of the question, at least for Apple’s most expensive iPhones.
🏎️ Faster speeds with the A19 processor. As with every new iPhone, Apple is expected to update the chip inside the iPhone 17. The device will likely feature a 3nm A19 processor, which could offer faster speeds and improved efficiency compared to the A18. The iPhone 17 is also expected to come with 8GB of RAM, enough to enable Apple Intelligence technology.
⚡️ Faster shipping. We’re hearing that Apple may offer iPhone 17 users a significant boost in charging speed. Granted, this batch only reaches 35W via the USB-C port, with support for 15W Qi2 wireless charging. However, it would be great to see a faster-charging iPhone: 23W charging in 2025 is a bit of a stretch, especially with phones like the OnePlus 13 that can charge four times faster.
⚡️ Integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Apple is expected to integrate a new wireless chip that combines Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth into a single unit. It’s expected to offer improved performance over current Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chips, with higher efficiency for longer battery life. The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Air could also receive the new chip, but rumors are still unclear as to which models will ultimately receive it.
📶 There’s no C1 modem for you. The iPhone 16e features Apple’s own 5G modem, called C1, which supports 5G networks at frequencies below 6 GHz and is much more efficient than before. The iPhone 17 Air is also expected to feature this chip, but the iPhone 17 and 17 Pro will likely continue to use Qualcomm’s modem since Apple’s C1 modem doesn’t support mmWave 5G. C2 will likely integrate this technology into all iPhones so that each iPhone has the most efficient chip.
